Battlestar Galactica at……Furman University?

I came across two classes that Furman offers in which they integrate Battlestar Galactica:

Analyzing Historical American Speeches & Battlestar Galactica

Learning Politics Through Battlestar Galactica

Perhaps there is more information written about these classes elsewhere, but this is what I found.

Dr. Lewis’s Great Speeches class examines the rhetorical history of women debating the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). Students will explore arguments from both sides, highlighting how healthy discourse was possible two generations ago and remains relevant today.

Dr. Nelsen’s first-year writing seminar, Learning Politics Through Battlestar Galactica, looks at the show’s portrayal of controversial issues like politics, religion, war, gender, race, class, and abortion. Students are paired with classmates holding different perspectives, instructed to listen to and articulate each other’s arguments, and then the class critically examines these arguments.
